What is EllaOne?

It is a contraceptive which can prevent unwanted pregnancies within 5 days of unprotected sex. The ingredient that makes up EllaOne is known as ulipristal acetate, which works by altering the lining of womb and delaying any unwanted pregnancies that may occur. **

What Dose should I take?

This treatment should be taken as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure about the dosage you should take, consult your healthcare professional before doing so. EllaOne is a single tablet that can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex, but it is recommended to take as soon as possible. If you experience vomiting after taking the medication, it is recommended that you take another dose.

What are the Side Affects?

Common side effects associated with EllaOne are:

  • Tiredness or fatigue
  • Sickly feeling
  • Pain in lower abdomen
  • Headaches
  • Back pain

Can I Use Ellaone as long term contraception?

Although Ellaone is a very effective contraception it is not recommended for long term or continuous use. There are long term contraception’s on the market which are more effective and more suitable.
